Re: People objecting to the Verification process should familiarise themselves with the story of E-Gold@Caine What's worse, there used to be "Basic" holding status which just required online verification that I passed. I used to be able to withdraw funds just fine some months ago, but now, from one day to another, I am no longer able to do so! Complaining about this, customer care reponded "If you wish to withdraw funds, your Holding must be fully verified." How can they just make such a fundamental change without any prior notice?! Now I am suddenly unable to get any money out of my holding without going through a cumbersome manual verification process (again!) that requires certification by a notary public.
I fully agree that verification in general is important - but that should be done through a convenient online process as other fintecs do. And the worst thing you can do is just changing the rules for existing customers without telling them and without any explaination as I described above. I am very disappointed.
When I now try to withdraw funds to my bank account I am getting an error page telling me this:
You must be fully verified in order to withdraw funds
Your Holding is currently unverified so you are limited to certain Holding features until you verify your Holding using Equifax or by providing certified documentation."
Was this REALLY done on purpose? Did Goldmoney REALLY stop to support Basic Holdings without any prior notice? If I had known this I would have sold all my metals and taken out all my money before that. Could someone from GM staff please clarify?
Yesterday I wrote the following message to GM customer support:
Subject: Holding status changed from Basic to Unverified
Dear Sir or Madam, for no understandable reason my holding status seems to have changed from "Basic" to "Unverified". As a result I am now unable to transfer any funds back to my bank account. Whenever I try to do so, I see the following error in the network protocol: "Your Holding is currently a Limited Holding. In order to transfer money between Goldmoney and your bank account or prepaid card, your Holding must be a Basic Holding or a Full Holding." This clearly seems like a bug to me. Could you please help me resolve this problem? Thank you for your promt assistance. Best regards, XXX
Today I received the following reply (?) - or given the short timeframe it might as well only be an automated recurring message sent by the system that I would have gotten anyway:
Subject: Additional Verification
Dear Valued Client, To complete the verification of your Holding, please login and follow the proposed steps. If you are resident in the U.S., U.K., or Canada, you will be given the opportunity to verify using Equifax. If you live in any other country, please download our verification form and follow the steps provided. If you have any questions, please let our dedicated Relationship Management team know. Kind Regards, Goldmoney Verification Team
@Goldmatters @Marco_1983 I can only hope this standard text is not meant to be their answer telling me that I now have to run though full paper verification process in order to get MY money back to MY own bank account where it came from.
But from what @freespirit_0707 and @Groover1002 said it's not possible for full verified account holders to withdraw their money either. Still waiting for clarification on this matter.
So just to make this clear again: tenthousands of Euros of my very own money are now blocked for a verified account for no apparent reason from one day to another without any explaination so far.
@IrishGuy That's right, so far I am only suggesting the course of action I outlined above, but my patience is very limited. I guess everybody here has an idea what it feels when your bank would suddenly tell you you can't withdraw tenthousands of Euros of your own money without explaination. I came to Goldmoney in the search for financial stability and credibility - the latest thing I got was the very opposite.
Still hoping this is just a software bug that merely needs to be fixed - hopefully in a timely manner.
@Marco_1983 @helferlein Could not agree more!
There are German (N26, Weltsparen) and UK (Revolut) fintech banks where account opening and verification is done completely online and just a matter of minutes rather than months. If Goldmoney wants to be successful in the long run, they must not aim for less.
@helferlein Now that is funny: today the link to verify my holding just magically appeared in the top right corner.
However, it's not that usefull at all. As @Marco_1983 already explained it just leads to the old print-out form:
Additionally I got this message:
"Dear Valued Client, To complete the verification of your Holding, please login and follow the proposed steps. If you are resident in the U.S., U.K., or Canada, you will be given the opportunity to verify using Equifax. If you live in any other country, please download our verification form and follow the steps provided. If you have any questions, please let our dedicated Relationship Management team know. Unfortunately not what I was waiting for - actually nothing has changed since the last months. Still looking forward to an easier way. Please just implement 3rd party KYC providers such as IDnow, VerifyU, Netverify or whatever. That should be Goldmoney's top priority.
