  • Re: Do I earn money in prepaid card if gold goes up, as in a vault?

    Simply answer is: Yes! :)

You can make a profit when you redeem gold to your prepaid bitgold mastercard.
For example you have 10grams of gold in your account and the price today is $40 per gram (total 10gr x $40 = $400 right)
After two days the gold price goes to $45 then you will have $450 . If you redeem 1gram for example into your card you will have a $5 profit .

A GoldMoney Prepaid MasterCard issued from the BitGold platform does not connect to a GoldMoney Holding.

How much does the GoldMoney Prepaid MasterCard cost?
Your first GoldMoney Prepaid MasterCard is free. As with all gold redemptions on the BitGold platform, there is a 1% BitGold fee to redeem gold from your BitGold account to load your Prepaid Card. Additional cards are 0.2 GAU each. Please note that you can only have one card for each currency.

What requirements must I meet in order to request a card?
You must have a Personal Verified Account and a minimum of 1 GAU (gold gram) settled in your account to request a card.

If you have forgotten your PIN, you are able to retrieve it on your Card Portal dashboard at icwd.cardportal.com. There is a $2 fee for this and it will be deducted from your card. If you do not currently have a balance on the card, you will not be able to retrieve the PIN.

How do refunds work on my GoldMoney Prepaid MasterCard?

Refunds on the GoldMoney Prepaid MasterCard would be the same as any other refund on a major credit card. Please allow for 3-5 business days for the funds to return to your card once the refund has been issued by the merchant.

Will I get a monthly bill?
There is no monthly bill associated with your Prepaid Card as you will never 'owe' with your account. There is no credit given. You will be able to view all of your transactions online on your Card Portal dashboard at icwd.cardportal.com and you will be able to view your Prepaid Card balance on your Overview page on your BitGold account.

    Am I charged interest fees?
GoldMoney Prepaid MasterCards are prepaid, meaning they have no credit or loan facility associated with them. This means you can only spend what you have loaded onto your card. So there will never be a negative balance or any interest charges on your GoldMoney Prepaid MasterCard as you aren't being lent anything to be charged interest on.

    There are no monthly fees!

I was in the beta program, will my old card still work? Will I get a new one?
Yes, your beta card absolutely still works! We will be contacting beta participants to give them the option to get the new card or to keep their old one.

I requested my card online but it never arrived.

If you have requested a card online and after 3-4 weeks it hasn't arrived please contact our Customer Success Team. We will be able to verify the address your card was mailed to and if need be, re-issue you a card.

Right, every one must know. Also everyone (new and old members/customers) must take a time to check all the Support Articles very often for any updates.

@KJH at the current time no. But i hope in the future BitGold can offer a Canadian Dollar card.

But for sure, ask @Melanie or drop a phone call +1-800-854-7418 (free of charge number for Canadians) from 9 AM - 5 PM EST, Monday to Friday. ;)
  • 15 Things You Can Buy with a 10 Gram Gold Cube.

    An article from BitGold's Blog.

Time and time again we are reminded that prices are constantly rising. Inflation increases salaries and the cost of goods and services, but not always at the same rate. This has made measuring true value over time increasingly difficult.

History’s strongest store of value has always been gold bullion. Throughout the years, the same quantity of gold can be exchanged for the same value of goods or more. 6,000 years of currency experiments have yet to find a more long-term, stable, store of value.

Here are just some of the things you can buy today with the value of a GoldCube™!

10 grams of gold could buy you (based on prices as of December, 2015 of US$35/gram):

    • 14 trips to the movies for a couple
    • Two weeks worth of groceries for a family of four
    • 12 tanks of gas for the average mid-sized SUV
    • A full year of Internet service
    • A round trip ticket from Toronto to Los Angeles
    • 20 Uber Rides after work
    • A new Kindle with 15 books on it
    • 75 coffee drinks at Starbucks
    • 10 meals for two at a nice restaurant
    • A brand new 40″ television
    • Your monthly car payment
    • A new iPad Mini
    • Your cell phone plan payment for two months
    • Two full outfits of cloths
    • A new suit

This is what you could buy today with your GoldMoney® Prepaid MasterCard®. When compared to 2000, 15 years ago, we can see that there has been a growth in the purchasing power of gold. In 2000 those 10 grams of gold would have purchased you (based on 2000 average price of US$8.78/gram):

    • 8 trips to the movies for a couple
    • One week worth of groceries for a family of four
    • 6 tanks of gas for the average mid-sized SUV
    • Two months of Internet service
    • A round trip ticket from Toronto to Los Angeles
    • 25 coffee drinks at Starbucks
    • 3 meals for two at a nice restaurant
    • A down payment on a brand new 30″ television
    • Your cell phone plan payment for one month
    • An outfit of clothes
    • Two new ties

The bottom line is that gold, in its purest form, is one of the best ways to save money compared to most currencies. The number of things you can purchase with just that one tiny bit of gold is immense and has grown enormously over time. In 1,967 you needed US$1.13 to buy one (1) gram of gold, today you would need more than US$35 to buy the very same amount.

All of the volatility, shifts, and frequent “adjustments” in the market that happen in today’s rapid-fire economy can be troublesome. Gold is more consistent, and for most investors it’s a good idea to consider at least some of your assets to be set aside as gold.

I have to thanks @79Au197 for this recommendation. It's really a worthless book.
