but am I missing something because my deposits are closer to 1% for example 50$ deposit 46cents taken

    How do you deposit? There is almost Always a cost of exchange that the banks / CC companies charge - this is not under goldmoneys control.

    Try to find cards that charge as low exchange fees as possible is the only advice i can give.

    So in short, if you look at the link @Joahob provided, you pay .5% of the Best bid or offer depending on whether you are selling or buying. It would be nice to have the system tell you when you are making the purchase or sale tell you the actual bid or offer price rather than the average BBO so less people will be confused.
    Once you look at that link and read it a little closer, it will make sense.
